Estimates of the total volume of coal slurry in Indiana range from 94 to 136 million cubic yards. An unknown quantity of additional coalslurry exists at active coalpreparation facilities, in some waterfilled impoundments located in the vicinities of inactive operations, in excavated pits of unknown depth, and in graded spoil deposits.
