Silica or silicon dioxide occurs in two forms, either crystalline or amorphous. The most common type of crystalline silica, quartz, is found in most igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rock. The potential for worker exposure to crystalline silica is widespread within the minerals mining and quarrying industry.
